2024 Rules

The Spokane Valley Farmers' Market (SVFM) rules are in place to ensure the community receives the highest quality products, grown or produced by local farmers and artisans, and to set guidelines for market activities. The SVFM is not intended to be a forum for religious or political views or agendas.

Vendor Qualifications
Farmers and Hand Crafters: These vendors should grow, produce, or wild-craft the products sold at the market or resell according to the Washington Farmers Market Association (WFMA) criteria for resellers. Qualifications include:

Products must be grown in Washington and labeled accordingly.
Wild-crafted items (e.g., huckleberries and mushrooms) are allowed.
Crafts must be handmade by the seller.
Commercial, second-hand, or imported items are prohibited; discretion lies with the governing board.
Musicians: Music at the market provides diverse, enjoyable background entertainment for customers and vendors.

Musicians must complete an application and submit a demo CD for review. A canopy will be provided over the stage area.
Musicians must bring their own outdoor extension cords.
Musicians are paid $100 per full market day and should be ready when the market opens.
Musicians may accept tips and are encouraged to do so!
Concessionaires or Food Trucks: Vendors offering freshly made food for on-site consumption are charged 5% of sales and must hold all necessary permits and licenses. Concessions vendors must complete an application.

Market Time: The 2024 Winter Market will run on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vendors may set up no earlier than 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.
For indoor vendors, participation on both days is preferred.
Vendors should be in place, with vehicles removed from the market area by 9:30 a.m.
Tear-down begins no earlier than market closing time.
If a vendor sells out before the end of the market day, the booth must remain intact until closing.
Booth Space: Booth fees include a 10’x10’ outdoor or 8’x8’ indoor space. A limited number of larger spaces are available upon request for an additional fee. One 8-ft table and two chairs will be provided; no canopies are provided indoors.

Booths will be identified by signs bearing the vendor’s business name. Vendors must maintain a clean and orderly space during market hours and are responsible for removing trash from their area.
Vendors must securely anchor canopies or umbrellas with at least 25 lbs of weight on each leg.
Pricing: Vendors set their own prices, but undercutting other vendors by pricing below cost is not allowed. Pricing complaints are subject to review by the advisory group, and daily sales must be reported on provided forms.

Conduct: The market promotes a family-friendly atmosphere. Vendors and their representatives are expected to be professional, courteous, and harmonious with customers and other vendors. Vulgar or aggressive language is prohibited. This market is not a forum for religious or political activities, and smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of the site. Customer complaints about product quality should be addressed with refunds or replacements, if requested. Vendor grievances should be referred to the on-site market manager.

Vendor Approval Process: The market’s governing board reviews and approves vendor applications on a rolling basis to ensure a diverse and high-quality array of products. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for consideration. Notifications will be sent upon approval.

Fees: Fees vary by booth size and location.

December 14 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.):
$30 for outside booths
$60 for inside booths
December 15 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.):
$30 for outside booths
$60 for inside booths
Special booth spaces are available for an additional fee.
Cancellation: The market manager must be notified of cancellations no later than 8:00 p.m. on the Monday of the event week. If cancellation notice is not received and confirmed, no refund will be given. No refunds will be issued for vendors removed due to rule violations.

Inclement Weather: Vendors are expected to attend as scheduled, even in inclement weather, to maintain a full market lineup. Vendor and musician attendance builds customer loyalty and prevents last-minute gaps.

Compliance: Vendors are solely responsible for complying with all applicable rules governing the growing, production, and marketing of their goods. Vendors should provide the market with copies of any necessary permits.

Insurance: Vendors should make a bona fide effort to list "Spokane Valley Farmers’ Market / JAKT Foundation" as an additional insured party on their policy. Vendors are responsible for any damage caused by their canopy, regardless of whether market anchoring guidelines are met. The Spokane Valley winds can reach 15+ miles per hour, so securing canopies is critical.
